Basketball playoffs: Bear River, Del Oro girls land No. 2 seeds

The Pioneer Valley League was well represented in the Sac-Joaquin Section girls basketball playoff brackets released Sunday. Girls’ first-round games will take place Tuesday at 7 p.m. In Division IV, PVL co-champions Bear River and Colfax are both seeded in the top four. The Bruins are No. 2 and will host Highlands in their opener. The Falcons are No. 4 and will take on Liberty Ranch at home to open the playoffs. The Placer girls were rewarded for their strong finish. The Lady Hillmen are No. 13 in Division III and will face Christian Brothers Tuesday in Sacramento. The Del Oro girls were seeded No. 2 in Division II behind St. Mary’s of Stockton, the defending Division III champion. The Golden Eagles, who won the Sierra Foothill League with a perfect 9-0 record, will host River City on Tuesday. In Division V, Foresthill will host its first playoff game on Tuesday. The Wildfires, who won the Central Valley Christian League, are seeded eighth and will face Trinity Prep in their opener. On the boys side, Del Oro landed the No. 11 seed in Division II.
