Bear River's Beskeen goes out with a bang, scores 30 in loss to Center
The Bear River High School senior star basketball player scored 30 points in a 52-43 Pioneer Valley League loss to Center Tuesday night in Antelope.
Bear River finishes off its season with a record of 14-12 and losing nine of 10 league games.
“No playoffs for the Bruins,” said coach Duwaine Ganskie, whose team needed to reach the 15-win mark to qualify for the Div. IV Sac-Joaquin Section playoffs.
Tevyn Kimble scored six points on two treys against the Cougars, including one that tied the game at 42-42 with three-and-a-half remains remaining.
“It just got away at that point,” Ganskie said.
Asked about his team’s PVL record, Ganskie said it’s a tough league this year and that his team had a lot of tough games.
“Losing in OT to Placer, a game at home we couldn’t keep Beskeen on the floor,” he said. “We struggled to find the toughness at the end. The kids battled. I’m proud of their effort. The league was too good for us this year. We couldn’t scratch out a few wins.”
Ganskie said the Bruins will be rebuilding next year.
“We’ve got a great freshmen class,” the coach said. “We’ve got a lot of sophomores we will bring up. We’ll try to find a way to get it done.”
