A man whose body was recovered from a canal off of Edgewood Road shortly after noon Wednesday was identified Thursday. A sheriff’s spokeswoman said David Lee Miller, 51, of Auburn, was a drowning victim and there does not appear to be any foul play involved. The body was spotted just before noon floating in the Lower Wise Canal by a Placer County Water Agency worker, said Dena Erwin, Placer County Sheriff’s Office public information officer. Erwin said two sheriff’s dive team members jumped into the canal and recovered the man’s body as it floated downstream. An autopsy is being performed, and cause of death is pending. The canal is owned by Pacific Gas & Electric. - Staff report
