Bring back the wood chipper

-A +A
Last Monday, I learned at our meeting of the Greater Auburn Area Fire Safe Council that the county chipper program has shut down due to a lack of grant funding. October has traditionally been the most dangerous month of the annual fire season. The county chipper program has been a valuable fire prevention tool and vital public safety program. It provides incentives for homeowners to remove brush and wood fuel from their property. I urge our county supervisors to act with urgency to find the necessary general fund money to keep the chipper program and thereby help homeowners protect their families and property.
