Bring home a shelter animal

I am writing because I am concerned about animals that do not have a caring home in our community, our state and our country. Every year, many thousands of animals have to be euthanized because our animal shelters don’t have enough money to keep them. In some places, animals can stay in a shelter less than a week before they have to be put down. We all have the responsibility of taking care of our pets. This includes making sure that they are spayed and neutered, so they don’t reproduce and leave us looking for good homes for their babies. Also, if we want a new pet, I think the best idea is to adopt an animal that needs a home from a shelter, or from a rescue organization. I know that this has been said before, but I just thought it might be a good reminder for all of us. GAVIN FLINT, student, Auburn
