The Bear River High boys' run in the Sac-Joaquin Section Division IV playoffs was cut short Friday night in Calaveras. The Bruins were in control for much of the contest before the Redskins made their move in the fourth quarter and pulled out a 52-49 win. Calaveras moves on to Wednesday's semifinals. Junior Justin Beskeen scored 19 to pace 13th-seeded Bear River (12-15), which took out No. 4 Sonora in Wednesday's playoff opener. Brandon Wooner added 12 points and Jonny Cassar tossed in 11. The Bruins had the ball, down one point, with 18 seconds left but Cassar had a shot blocked and Calaveras was awarded the ball out of bounds. The Redskins hit a pair of free throws to help lock up the win.
