AUBURN CA - A fire that burned through a North Auburn fourplex Dec. 8 is continuing to be investigated by Cal Fire.

Cal Fire spokeswoman Lynne Tolmachoff said Friday that investigators were still investigating the cause of a fire that broke out early Dec. 8.

Witnesses said that at least 13 people escaped the flames and smoke. Damage from the fire was extensive through the back of the Galena Drive structure.

The first report of the fire came in at 3:37 a.m. and the initial engine crew arrived 10 minutes later, Tolmachoff said.

Tolmachoff said the Red Cross was called in to help displaced occupants cope with their loss. One resident was treated for smoke inhalation.

As well as the fourplex and contents damaged in the blaze, two vehicles parked outside also sustained severe fire damage.
