As I picked up the Auburn Journal on June 22, 2012, I noticed on the front page, to my amazement, a deputy wearing a hat (“Camp forges bond between children, deputies”). He was actually in full uniform.
My No. 2 amazement was what in the world were they thinking about when they show young people – children – how an attack dog takes people “down”? Also how horses handle crowd control.
Who comes up with this line of thinking? They say they want the kids to feel more comfortable with law enforcement. How can that happen when they scare them with attack dogs attacking people? A cop sics a dog on somebody and the kid is supposed to like the deputy? Give me a break!
I can imagine the nightmares these little kids have. If the cops want the kids to like them, give them candy.
