Celebration so neighborly

Although living in Auburn for over 20 years, I had yet to join in with my many neighbors to become part of the Celebrity Chef Celebration. So on a damp, chilly evening, my neighbor Gerri and I became part of the crowd of smiling faces, greeting each other with waves of hands or hellos, all of us anticipating the delicious experience that was ahead of us. The perimeter of the Gold Country Fairgrounds building was lined up with tables for the serving of many types of enticing foods. Appetizers, salads, entrees and desserts awaited each and every one of us. The center of the room was already set up with place mats and cutlery waiting for the outstanding array of foods to be enjoyed. Great music by the band and terrific raffle prizes kept the evening alive. This was truly a family celebration with folks of all ages enjoying the camaraderie of our community. In order to pull off an event of this magnitude involved many, many hours of work by a great number of dedicated volunteers. The proceeds benefit charities in our community; this year the Forgotten Soldiers. To each and every one who took time out of their own schedules to participate in this event a huge “thank you” for making Auburn the town that we love. PAT STEMMLER, Auburn
