Charity golf tournaments set for Friday

The Auburn Host Lions 16th annual Fun Golf Tournament will be held Friday at The Ridge Golf Club. The field is limited to 144 players, and the cost is $125 per player. The tournament includes breakfast, lunch, carts, prizes and contests. Raffle prizes include gift certificates and items from various local restaurants, stores and Reno hotels. The silent auction will feature special wines and gift certificates from local golf courses. Proceeds go to local charities. The Lions Club is still looking for sponsors. St. Joseph Church tournament at Turkey Creek The eighth annual St. Joseph Church Charity Golf Tournament is set for Friday at Turkey Creek Golf Club in Lincoln. The best-ball scramble tournament begins with registration at 11 a.m. and a shotgun start at 1 p.m. There will be flights for men, women and mixed foursomes. The golf package includes greens fees, range balls, lunch, snacks, water and dinner and prizes following the tournament. Sierra Foothills 5K/10K Run set for Saturday The third annual Sierra Foothills 5k/10k Run will be held Saturday at Colfax High School. The run benefits the Colfax track and cross country programs. Post 84 Legion tryouts Auburn Post 84 American Legiot baseball tryouts will be held for junior and senior teams Saturday at James Field at 10 a.m. Players must attend the tryout to be eligible to play this year. The summer leagues run for 14 weeks. Teams bowling in the jubilee leagues are eligible for a tournament in Reno Oct. 2-3 and the tournament fees are paid by the league. There are currently openings in the Monday Mixed Jubilee league for full teams – four person teams with a combination of men and women on each team. Auburn Triathlon coming May 23 The eighth annual Auburn Triathlon will be held May 23 at Railhead Park in Auburn.
