Pay of public officials was headlines Aug 18. Roseville Police Chief (Mike) Blair’s retirement at the early age of 50 (Journal, Aug. 20) is surprising since he is at the peak of his working life. Retiring with 85 percent pay is certainly questionable, and at age 50 after only 24 years is surprising. The city is on the hook for well over $5 million (pension) for Chief Blair. The chief has done a super job and should continue as chief through his productive years. These kind of unfortunate giveaways should be a high priority especially when using taxpayer money.
