Christmas can be a new beginning

God came in the least likely way – in the form of a baby, born in a barn. A star led the way to where he was, and angels announced his birth to some very surprised shepherds. The Bible tells us this beautiful story. Take time to read this awesome happening of God’s love for us. He can come to us in an equally surprising way. If we live as if God is going to surprise us anytime, any place, any way … he many times does! Nothing is impossible with God. We are told that Christmas is one of the most depressing times for many people. This Christmas, especially for those that have lost loved ones, this may be so. Many of us find it difficult to enter into the way we celebrated in the past, but there are still so many things we can count as blessings. We may want to reevaluate what Christmas means to us by slowing down our pace, and in childlike wonder singing carols, feeling the warmth of why Jesus was born, “the reason for this season.” Share Christmas with someone that truly needs you. This can become a beautiful, memorable Christmas with a new beginning. Have a blessed Christmas and God bless you now and in the coming new year. ELLY DERR, Auburn
