City clerk receives three eviction notices, waiting for court decision

-A +A
City Clerk Joseph LaBrie confirmed Thursday that three eviction notices have been posted on his Auburn apartment. However, LaBrie, who was elected in 2000, refused to comment further saying he would wait until a judge’s decision is announced. A four-day hearing regarding the matter concluded this week in an Auburn courtroom, LaBrie said outside of his apartment off Auburn Ravine Road Thursday afternoon. The eviction notices also involve Palm Apartment owner John Mays. Mays declined to comment when contacted by the Journal Wednesday. LaBrie said he’s been elected three times and served as the city’s clerk for almost nine years. As city clerk, it is his duty to swear people in, manage meeting minutes and attend City Council meetings. The part-time position receives a $300 a month stipend plus health benefits, LaBrie said. ~ Jenifer Gee
