I was enjoying a Tango frozen yogurt on the plaza of Auburn Square a few days ago. At the adjoining table, four teenagers, one male and three females, were doing the same, when another teenager rolled up to their table on a skateboard and joined them in louder than normal conversation, which I assume was to make sure everyone would know how cool he was. His vocabulary consisted mostly of words relating to bodily functions and sex acts, which the teens accepted as normal conversation. As an old-timer I could not help musing how far into the sewer society has sunk from the days in the 1930s when people were shocked when Clark Gable uttered the four-letter word “damn” in the movie “Gone with the Wind.” Oh, for the good old days.
