Class teaches parents how to talk about birds, bees

-A +A
Most parents want to be the person their son or daughter comes to with tough questions about puberty, peer pressure, sexual harassment, “the birds and the bees” and teen pregnancy prevention. However, parents might not know where to begin. “You Can Talk to Me” is a five-week series that allows parents and their pre-teens to attend family life education classes together. The goal is to provide factual information, while enhancing parent-child communication in a comfortable, fun, and safe environment. A free preview night for parents only takes place at 6 p.m. March 31 at First Congregational Church of Auburn, 710 Auburn Ravine Road, Auburn. The remaining classes will be held 6-8 p.m. April 7, April 14, April 28, May 5 and May 12 also at the church. Tuition for the five sessions is $120 per couple and covers 10 hours of instruction. Call Marlene Mahurin, family life educator, at (530) 575-6582 to RSVP or for more information.
