Colfax earns another shutout

Ashley Tobiasz had two first-half goals and Mathilde Bosgiraud scored in the second half to ice the Colfax High girls soccer team’s 3-0 win over host Lincoln in Pioneer Valley League action Monday. The Zebras mustered only one shot, and Amber Cramer saved it to preserve another shutout. Kate Bianchi, Ashley Broussard, Elisha Partin and Leah Schafer all played strong defense for the Falcons (10-0-2, 2-0 PVL), who host Bear River Wednesday afternoon. Whitney 2, Placer 0 at Rocklin — The Hillgals scored an early own goal on a header to give the Wildcats an early lead, and Whitney scored another goal on a cross late in the first half. Placer got strong defensive play from Celeste Havener, Karly Kenworthy, Caitlin Letcher and Kayla Lipsmeyer. The Hillgals (7-5-1, 2-1 PVL) travel to Mesa Verde Thursday afternoon for a game that was originally scheduled to be played Wednesday. Bear River 1, El Dorado 1 at Placerville — Morgan Bachus scored the lone goal for the Bruins (1-2-2, 1-1-1 PVL) as they battled the host Cougars to a draw. Claire Newman made five saves for Bear River, while sweeper Bree Rogers played solidly in the back line. Forest Lake Christian 7, Delta 2 at Lake of the Pines — Kacie McGeary scored three goals, Kaylee Lommori had two goals and Morghan Pomeroy and Christa Weisman scored one apiece as the Falcons improved to 5-5-1 overall and 3-0 in Central Valley Christian League play. Lommori and Weisman had two assists each for FLC, which hosts Foresthill Thursday.
