LODI - Missed free throws and a determined comeback by West Campus cost the Colfax High girls a shot at a Sac-Joaquin Section championship Wednesday. The Falcons fell 50-47 to Tokay in the Division IV semifinals at Tokay High School. Colfax roared back from an eight-point deficit in the third quarter and led by eight midway through the fourth quarter before the Warriors responded. West Campus took a 47-46 lead with 2 minutes, 15 seconds left on a 3-pointer by Eunique Nelson. The Falcons (18-9) had their opportunities from the free throw line. But they missed seven shots from the line in the fourth quarter, including two with 3.3 seconds left when they trailed by one. "You've got to make free throws down the stretch," Colfax coach Dave Campbell said. "If we convert, we win the ball game. We had an eight-point lead with (four) minutes left and they put us at the line and we couldn't hit our free throws." Haley Biles scored 11 points to lead Colfax, which will play in the CIF Northern California playoffs on the road Tuesday. Haleigh Lis and Amber Tobiasz scored 10 each and Regan Lillie added seven.
