Colfax roundup: Falcon baseball team romps past Rio Linda, 13-4

The Colfax High School baseball team picked up its first win of the season with a 13-4 drubbing of the Rio Linda Knights Tuesday.

Devon Loomis, on loan from the Falcons' CIF Regional bound basketball team, led the win for the Falcons (1-2).

Loomis belted a pair of bases-loaded doubles and finished the game by going 3 for 4 with six RBI. He also threw two scoreless relief innings with four strikeouts.

Starting pitcher Wes Woodward earned the win by allowing just one earned run through five innings.

R.J. Hurley added a RBI on a "squeeze" play while Matt Paskey added two hits.

Chas Reisinger also doubled for the winners, while James Dean added a RBI single.

Colfax JV 15 Rio Linda 4 - Ryan Hallman went 4 for 4 with a double to spark the JV win for the Falcons. Jake Buol added two more raps for the winners, while Cameron Miller delivered a double. Ryan Roblez worked four frames for the win.

Girls soccer

The scheduled match between Colfax and Forest Lake slated for Tuesday was postponed. The match will be made up in Colfax on March 21. The Lady Falcons play at Roseville Thursday under the lights with JV action starting at 4:30 p.m. followed by the varsity match at 7 p.m.
