Colfax softball cruises

MARYSVILLE ” Cara Spence had three of Colfax's 13 hits and drove in three runs to lead the Falcons in a 13-2 rout of Marysville Monday. Becky Dunn doubled twice and had two RBIs and Michelle Cavalier also doubled and drove in two runs. Kayla Campbell allowed only two hits in five innings, striking out three and walking none. Campbell also went 2-for-2 at the plate with a triple and two RBIs. The Falcons (3-3) host Nevada Union Thursday. BASEBALL Ponderosa 7, Del Oro 6 at Shingle Springs ” Matt Foat homered twice as the Bruins rallied from a 5-0 first inning deficit to beat the Golden Eagles Monday. Ponderosa trailed 6-2 after four innings but pulled to within a run on Foat's three-run blast in the fifth inning and added the tying and go-ahead runs in the sixth. Foat also hit a solo shot for Ponderosa, which improved to 4-0 overall. Cole Saunders went 2-for-3 with a home run and three RBIs for Del Oro, which fell to 1-3 overall. Eagles starter Mike Schnell pitched three strong innings in the loss. Del Oro plays at Bella Vista in Fair Oaks today at 4 p.m.
