Community backs its youth

I recently attended the Junior Livestock Auction at the Gold Country Fair and once again the businesses and residents of the greater Auburn area were there to support the youth who worked hard all year to raise an animal to sell at the auction. Also supporting the auction again was the local charity, Feed the Hungry. The meat from the animals they purchase each year is donated to the Salvation Army food closet. I was surprised and happy to see that in spite of the current economy, the Auburn area businesses and residents are still willing to support the youth of our community, not only the 4H and FFA members through the auction, but also local school programs, sports and many other youth activities. When you patronize these businesses, please note their community involvement and give them a big “thank you.” Sharon Coughran, Newcastle
