Construction near Baltimore Ravine a false alarm

City performs weed control and sewer maintenance

Auburn residents reported seeing construction in the Baltimore Ravine area of Auburn Wednesday morning, but city officials say what residents saw is actually maintenance, not the start of construction on the planned development. The water truck, scraper and weed eaters in the area are being used by the city to clear weeds that may become a fire hazard and gain access to a sewer line to perform some maintenance, according to Bernie Schroeder, public works director for the City of Auburn. “We are responding to some requests from the adjacent property owners for weed control and fire protection,” Schroeder said. “And also we are gaining access to some sewer lines we have in the area.” ~Sara Seyydin
