You can be part of Parkside United Church of Christ's mission team to Costa Rica. Departing June 19 and returning June 29, travel includes service work at schools serving immigrant children near San Jose, and Eco Tourism on the Pacific Coast.
A family of four that planned to participate has had a family emergency and will not be able to go. The church is offering four spaces, at a ground cost of $700 (not including airfare – check www.vayama.com for current airfare). This is a $1,135 value, including lodging, food, ground transportation and supplies for service work. The $35 cost of a rainforest canopy zipline experience is extra.
There is a small extra cost for private rooms at all lodges, if you prefer, rather than a mix of private rooms and dorm-style lodging. Near San Jose, the group will stay at the Hotel Las Orquideas Alajuela, www.orquideasin.com, then, in San Gerardo, the Hotel Suria, www.hotelsuria.com, and then in the Ballena Marine National Park, La Cusinga Lodge, www.lacusingalodge.com.
The chuch must give information on replacement travelers by June 5, so if you have questions, contact John Sugar at email@example.com or (916) 422-3083.
