Dakota Hecker earns Eagle Scout

-A +A

Placer County Sheriff Edward Bonner compliments Dakota Hecker on earning the Boy Scouts of America’s highest award of Eagle Scout during a Court of Honor held at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Auburn on March 3. Hecker has been a scout since 2000 when he joined Pack 1 of Auburn. In 2005 he crossed over to Troop 269, then transferred to troop 277 of Auburn, in 2011. He earned his Eagle Scout on May 1, 2012. For his Eagle Project, Hecker excavated two garden squares at Rock Creek Elementary in Auburn. He added a retaining wall to help stop erosion and also added new plants, soil, and shredded red cedar bark cover. He would like to thank all the businesses that helped, including Diamond Pacific Lumber, Eisley’s Nursery, Home Depot, and River City Rental, as well as all the people in Troops 269 and 277 and others in the community that put in hours on the project.
