The dead body found near Old Town Auburn has been identified as Larry Colvin, 33, of San Francisco, according to a press release by the Auburn Police Department.

The Auburn Police Department issued a press release Wednesday evening listing the name of the dead man found Tuesday morning off the side of the road on the 100 Block of Park Street.

Colvin died of a single gunshot wound and the case is being investigated as a homicide. It is not clear why Colvin was in Auburn.

Auburn Police Chief John Ruffcorn said the body was reported around 9:20 a.m. Tuesday by a person driving in the area of Park Street.
