Members of the Auburn Union School District board of trustees and the public heard two proposed funding options for the installation of solar power at four school sites.
The first proposal was a power purchase agreement with iecRenewables LLC, who is installing the panels and the second was a 20-year financing through the Placer County treasury.
Daniel Berlant, board president, said the board is seeking additional information on the county’s plan before it makes a decision. The decision is likely to come at the board’s next meeting on June 13, he added.
Whichever plan the board chooses, Berlant said overall the project looks promising and has the potential to save the district $3.6 million to $8 million.
“Everybody wants to make this work,” Berlant said. “We are just waiting for the final details with the county.”
