Defense, big oil stand unscathed

In case you missed this: the House of Representatives GOP voted March 29 and passed a budget that ended Medicare (replacement is $6,000 annual vouchers for insurance companies — if they accept you with your pre-existing conditions) and slashed taxes on millionaires by $265,000/year. There were no cuts to the $789 billion increase for defense contractors who have made fortunes on both U.S. wars and no cuts to oil company subsidies which reduce their taxes by close to $500 billion. Tom McClintock voted for this bill and is proud of it. No Democrat voted for it. Thank God this budget will not be passed by the Democrat-controlled U.S. Senate. Keep this in mind as you vote in June and November. Patricia Grenfell, Auburn
