Del Oro decimates El Camino

Del Oro High didn’t dazzle Saturday, but the Golden Eagles’ waves of talented players left El Camino dizzy. Del Oro’s depth was too much for its guest at The Common Good Classic Saturday in a 56-24 romp. Senior Katie Pulliam scored 13 points and sophomore Belle Obert was a spark with eight points and four blocks as the Golden Eagles (15-1) stifled El Camino (12-5). Sophomore Madeline Campbell scored 10 points, senior Courtney Nolen grabbed eight rebounds and senior Meghan Huckaby added six rebounds for Del Oro. Sophomore Becky Duncan led the defensive effort with three steals. On Friday, Del Oro ran past Roseville 72-40, using a 21-4 run in the second quarter to take control. Sophomore Crystal Sewell scored 18 points, Huckaby scored 11 and Campbell tossed in 10 in the road victory. Placer 51, Whitney 45 at Rocklin — Senior Bailey Bill led a dominant performance in the paint for the Placer as they held off the Wildcats Friday night. Bill finished with 18 points and 13 rebounds while junior Bethany Feis added 10 points and 11 boards for the Lady Hillmen (5-10 overall, 3-0 Pioneer Valley League). Shelby Madigan scored 13 points to go with four rebounds and three assists. Bear River 66, Lincoln 14 at Lake of the Pines — The Bruins smothered the Zebras to the tune of just three points in the first half. Sophomore Lindsey Harder scored 10 points and Jocelyn Fry added nine points and three steals as Bear River cruised to 2-1 in the Pioneer Valley League and 11-6 overall. Kelsey Uno had eight points and five assists. Riley Pearson also scored eight. Hannah Brown and Annie Osterholt pulled down six rebounds each for the Bruins. Forest Lake 52, Delta 31 at Lake of the Pines — The Falcons used a balanced effort to drop Delta, improving to 3-1 in the Central Valley Christian League. Lindsey Engbrecht led the way with 13 points while Kayla Campora had 11 points and 13 assists. Molly Huusfeldt tossed in 10 points, Laura Ritchart had eight points and seven rebounds and Emily English added seven boards for Forest Lake (9-7 overall). Foresthill 38, Woodland Christian 24 at Woodland — The Wildfires picked up a big road win as Jessica Palacios scored a game-high 15 points. Trysta Ferguson added nine points and Katie Palacios had five points and 10 rebounds for Foresthill (8-4 overall, 2-2 CVCL). Golden Sierra 49, Highlands 24 at North Highlands — The Grizzlies improved to 3-0 in the Golden Empire League as they jumped out to 17-3 lead after the first quarter and rolled on the road. Jessica Blair finished with nine points to lead Golden Sierra (7-10 overall). Shannon Cummings scored eight and Jaimey Danielson-McKeague tossed in seven.
