Del Oro falls, must win today to make playoffs

The Roseville High baseball team edged Del Oro 2-1 Wednesday to force a winner-take-all battle today in Loomis.
Tigers pitcher Tyler Ash held the Golden Eagles to one run in the second inning as Roseville pulled into a tie for third place in the Sierra Foothill League. Today’s meeting will determine which team will earn the SFL’s third and final berth to the Sac-Joaquin Section Division II playoffs.
Cole Perez pitched seven strong innings for Del Oro, giving up four hits and striking out seven.

El Dorado 3, Placer 1 - The Hillmen saw their playoff hopes dashed at James Field despite a tremendous effort against the Pioneer Valley League champions.
Placer senior Cameron Southward pitched seven outstanding innings, but the Cougars scratched out three runs - two unearned - in the sixth inning to win.
The Hillmen led 1-0 after the second inning, when Michael Reale's double scored Evan Staton.
Reale finished 2-for-3 to lead the Hillmen. Matt Ryan, Southward and Staton each went 1-for-3.
Placer (5-5-1 PVL) will face Lincoln Friday on the road in its season finale.

Bear River 12, Lincoln 6 at Lake of the Pines — The Bruins doubled up the Zebras to take sole possession of second place in the Pioneer Valley League.
Bear River rallied from a 5-2 deficit with a seven-run outburst in the fourth inning. Brandon Fry was 4-for-4 with a double, a home run and four RBIs to pace the Bruins (7-3 PVL, 14-11 overall). Zach Welz finished 2-for-5 with a homer and two RBIs and Cole White was 2-for-3 with a homer and two RBIs.
Jordan Beskeen was 2-for-2 with a double, Michael Lucas was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and David Karas had a pinch-hit, two-run double.
Ryan Sawyer pitched six solid innings for the win and Coleman Huntley tossed a scoreless seventh inning.
Bear River will host Mesa Verde today at 4 p.m.
