LOOMIS — Spencer Butterfield’s only ink in the scorebook came in the fouls category in the first half Saturday against El Camino at the Common Good Classic. The Del Oro High junior went to work after halftime, leading the Golden Eagles to an 83-76 victory in overtime. Butterfield’s slashing to the basket was a perfect complement to sophomore Aaron Hendricks, who bombed away from the outside to lead Del Oro with 21 points. Hendricks’ hit a corner 3-pointer with 30 seconds left to give the home squad the lead, but El Camino’s Juwann Springfield answered with a 28-foot trey with four seconds left to force overtime. Del Oro (12-4) dominated the extra session to pick up the non-league win. Junior Jon Root contributed just three points, but he drew seven charges on the defensive end to spark the Golden Eagles. Nico Ruiz scored 12 points and had four assists. Butterfield was named to the all-tournament team following the game.
