Del Oro girls ace tough road test
The Del Oro High girls basketball team used its signature balance and a big defensive night from Belle Obert to battle past St. Francis 57-48 Tuesday night in Sacramento.
The Golden Eagles (4-0) got 15 points and three steals from senior Becky Duncan. Obert added 10 points, nine rebounds and nine blocks against one of the Sac-Joaquin Section’s top teams.
Madeline Campbell tossed in 12 points and Crystal Sewell added eight for Del Oro, which will host Clovis West next Monday.
Colfax 35, Dixon 20 at Colfax — The Falcons locked up the Rams, holding the visitors to just one point in the first quarter on the way to the win.
April Littlejohn scored eight points and Michelle Walker notched seven as Colfax improved to 2-1 on the season.
The Falcons will play in the Oroville tournament, beginning Thursday.
Ponderosa 52, Placer 38 - The Lady Hillmen battled back to take a third-quarter lead, but the Bruins' size was too much.
Placer fell to 1-3 despite nine points from Kirstin Schauble and seven from Sarah Paolini.
