Del Oro girls improve to 10-0

By Staff Sam Hodge scored 12 points, dished out five assists and grabbed five rebounds to lead the Del Oro High girls basketball team to a 63-35 rout of Carson City on the road Saturday. Madeline Campbell scored 13 points and Meghan Huckaby ripped off five steals as the Golden Eagles improved to 10-0 on the season. On Friday, Del Oro beat Douglas in Carson City, 64-29. The Eagles will play at St. Francis Tuesday. Foresthill 41, Mountain Oaks 19 at Foresthill — The Wildfires cruised past the visitors Friday as Alycia Ferguson led the way with 16 points and four steals. Jessie Anderson added 12 points and pulled down eight rebounds as Foresthill closed out non-league play with a 6-2 record. Foresthill will host Forest Lake on Tuesday to open Central Valley Christian League play. Forest Lake 57, Elliot Christian 27 at Lake of the Pines — The Falcons (6-6) led 17-2 after the first quarter and coasted to victory at home Friday. Kate Hoge and Lindsey Engbrecht scored 10 points apiece to lead Forest Lake. McKenna Gilliland had 11 rebounds to go with eight points while Helen Jordan added eight points and seven boards. Kayla Campora passed out nine assists. Benicia 34, Golden Sierra 31 at Sacramento — The Grizzlies couldn’t hold off the Panthers in the consolation game of the Loretto tournament. Jamie Danielson-McKeague scored 11 points for Golden Sierra while Adriana Palmeire added seven points and three steals. Mariah Scroggins added 10 rebounds. On Friday, the Grizzlies (4-10) edged Amador 37-36 on as Danielson-McKeague scored 11 points. Shannon Cummings tossed in seven for the Grizzlies. Earlier on Friday, Golden Sierra fell to Vista del Lago 60-21 despite eight points from Danielson-McKeague.
