Del Oro High, Forest Lake to travel for state openers

By virtue of their runner-up finishes in the Sac-Joaquin Section boys basketball playoffs, Del Oro and Forest Lake Christian will each open Northern California Regional play on the road. Del Oro (22-8), which fell to Sacramento High in the Sac-Joaquin Section Division III final on Friday at Arco Arena, will face Sacred Heart Cathedral of San Francisco at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. The Fightin’ Irish are the Central Coast Section champions and boast a 25-4 record. Forest Lake Christian (22-8), the Division V runner-up after falling to Bradshaw Christian on Friday, will travel to face Northern Section champion Redding Christian at 7 p.m. Tuesday. The Lions are (25-5) and have three players averaging double figures in scoring: senior guards Daniel Bartow (16.9) and Byron Brown (10.5) and junior center Andrew Baxter (13.0).
