The Del Oro High wrestling team inched closer to the Sierra Foothill League championship Tuesday night with a dominating performance in Grass Valley. The Golden Eagles (4-0 Sierra Foothill League) lost the first three matches of the night, but responded with 11 straight victories to lock up a 54-16 victory. Freshman Austin Branum scored a pin at 125 pounds, followed by a pin by Dylan Petretti at 130. Connor Morgan posted a 7-0 shutout at 135 and Corey Johnson won 8-3 at 140. Kevin Burrage was a 14-8 winner at 145. Jesse Stafford won 15-7 at 152 and Casey Schumacher dominated in a 17-1 win at 160. Tyler Alexander picked up a pin at 171. Austin Harvart won by forfeit at 189, Justin McGuire got a pin at 215 and Bobby Gallagher closed out the win with a pin in the heavyweight division. Del Oro will host Rocklin Thursday in its final home match of the season.
