Madeline Campbell came off a double screen to sink a go-ahead 3-pointer with less than a minute remaining and Belle Obert made two late free throws after pulling down a key defensive rebound to lead Del Oro High past host Dougherty Valley of San Ramon, 52-46, in the opening round of the CIF Northern California Division IV playoffs Tuesday. The Golden Eagles (27-5) trailed by a point after a pair of Wildcat free throws with just over a minute left before Del Oro drew up a play for Campbell’s fearless shot. The star junior finished with a team-high 22 points as the Eagles advanced to play No. 4 Valley Christian (22-6), a Central Coast Section power in San Jose, on Thursday night. Crystal Sewell had 13 points and 11 rebounds. Obert added 11 rebounds, five blocks and three assists, Becky Duncan had eight rebounds and three steals and Taylor Donnot chipped in with nine points. Colfax 57, Central Valley 46 at Shasta Lake — Cassandra Campbell had 14 points, eight rebounds, six assists and three blocks and Michelle Walker had 17 points and nine rebounds to lead Colfax (19-12) in a battle of Falcons in the opening round of the CIF Northern California Division IV playoffs Tuesday. Walker also made 7 of 8 free throws in the fourth quarter to help seal the win after Central Valley had trimmed Colfax’s lead to three with three minutes left. “Michelle was huge in the fourth,” head coach Dave Campbell said. “We pretty much controlled the whole tempo of the game until the fourth quarter. They went on about a 9-0 run, but we kept our composure, hit a couple key buckets to get back up to about seven and then they were forced to foul.” Audrey Lewis also scored 17 for Colfax, which travels to No. 3 McKinleyville (27-3) of the North Coast Section Thursday.
