The first annual Placer Hillmen football “Kick-Off” Fundraising Dinner was rather successful for a first-time event.

The new dinner, which started this year and took place on Aug. 25 at the Gold Country Fairgrounds’ Placer Building, raised about $5,000 for all Hillmen football teams, according to Mark Davis, the chairman of the event.

Davis said about 190 dinners were served.

“It was a great fundraiser,” Hillmen coach Joey Montoya said. “It’s about as good as you could have for the first time. Everyone had a great time. The food was amazing. We were able to make some good money. It was a perfect way to start the season."
