District searching for new trustee after resignation

-A +A
The Auburn Union School District is looking for an interim trustee after one board member resigned recently. According to Michele Schuetz, district superintendent, Trustee Linda Beasley left to take care of “personal family issues” after deciding she could no longer fulfill her responsibilities on the board. Schuetz said Beasley has not made any indication of coming back in the future. Beasley served on the board for almost seven years, Schuetz said. Those interested in applying for the interim trustee position must be registered voters in the boundaries of the district. They must also submit a brief resume and letter of interest to the board before Nov. 10 and can mail the documents to Auburn Union School District, 255 Epperle Lane, Auburn, CA, 95603. Schuetz said during the Nov. 16 board meeting, trustees will hear short presentations from applicants and choose one to fill the position until Nov. 2012, when Beasley’s term would have ended. Currently board members don’t take a stipend or health insurance due to the economy, Schuetz said. In the past, the stipend has been $240 a month and health benefits totaled $1,500 a month, but trustees haven’t taken the benefits for years, Schuetz said. ~Bridget Jones
