Dobson’s comments do not advocate hate

Who is really twisting the truth and advocating hate? In the Journal’s Friday, June 27, Your Views, Gary Miller wrote his opinion, “Considering how James Dobson has twisted the words of Jesus for decades and allowed people to believe God is a God of hate…” When was it that Dr. Dobson states this ideology? Let’s review June 24th’s UPI article. “In a speech, Barack Obama is heard saying, ‘Whatever we once were, we are no longer just a Christian nation; we are also a Jewish nation, a Muslim nation, a Buddhist nation, a Hindu nation and a nation of non-believers.’ He then adds: ‘And even if we did have only Christians in our midst, if we expelled every non-Christian from the United States of America, whose Christianity would we teach in the schools? Would we go with James Dobson’s or Al Sharpton’s?’”… “Obviously, that is offensive to me,” Dobson said. “Who wants to expel people who are not Christians? I’ve never said anything near that.” The “hate” that Miller describes comes from Obama and himself, not Dr. Dobson. Obama compares Dr Dobson to a Christianity that discards people, which is false. Jesus desires a relationship with everyone and that is why God sent his son to die for us. You, Gary Miller, would appear to want to place walls between persons of faith. Obama does so by separating sides by comparing Dobson’s and Sharpton’s. Obama initiates the impression of Christians expelling non-Christians. You, Gary Miller, spout the same by twisting the truth about Dr. Dobson, who is a man of honesty and integrity. Now I ask again, who is really twisting the truth and advocating hate? Richard H.
