Does Gaines feel own cuts?

How ironic that Ted Gaines is upset about his daughters’ inability to enroll in courses at Sacramento State (“Tuition hikes put a ‘squeeze’ on middle class wallets,” Journal, July 19). Mr. Gaines has stated that the 2011 state budget plan, which already cut $650 million from the CSU budget, did not cut spending enough. Courses will only become less available if the legislature continues divesting in higher education. A contract between the student and university will do no good, Mr. Gaines, if the money to fund courses simple is not there. Molly Carter, Auburn
