Don’t reprint ‘hate speech’

Would you print a letter from a racist who used the “n” word? From an anti-Semite who used the “k” word? From a sexist who used the “c” word? Probably not; fortunately, I’ve never seen such a letter in the Auburn Journal. But then why did you see fit to print a homophobic letter on Dec. 10 that twice referred to gay people as “deviants”? And why actually repeat that offensive and demeaning word in your headline? I understand that newspapers need to provide balance and that all sides of an issue deserve to be represented, but I don’t think the Journal is under any obligation to publish hate speech. Please, no more. Carole Wade, Cool
