Don’t single out one dog breed

The Auburn City Council is proposing breed specific legislation to protect the citizens. My concern is that the council, obviously, has not researched this decision and instead will be costing the citizens more tax money, exposing the city to lawsuits and providing a false sense of security. Auburn spokesperson Mr. Bill Kirby has advised that he prefers input from residents of Auburn only, but my thoughts are that the Auburn economy is dependent not only on local businesses but also tourism. I have friends in Auburn. I visit the shops frequently. I would not come to Auburn if I was profiled based simply on my choice of pets. I believe factual research would indicate that the mayor and the city council are doing a disservice to their constituency by proceeding with this proposed legislation. Cindy Long, Placerville
