Downsize remodel; redistribute funds

The remodel of the (Placer County) Office of Education could have been done cheaper (Journal, Oct. 4). This is how: build smaller without the technology. Keep the construction small and simple without the space and additions you don’t need. Just like the old one-room schoolhouse, this is what you do: only add what you need and use the savings to redistribute the additional resources to the students and the school. If you keep things simple and small, you will save costs which will benefit the people for which it is intended. ALLEN CASSIDY, Auburn
