With rain forecasted to finally begin today and through this weekend, Placer County Public Works crews were continuing work on clearing ditches and drain spots Wednesday. “We’re ready as we’re ever going to be,” said Kevin Taber, Placer County Public Works road superintendent. “We’ve had three months to prepare.” Taber said the department began its normal winter storm preparations in October and November when wet weather typically hits the area. “We were ready to go,” Taber said. Now, into January, the department is ready even more so. “Our trucks are plowed up and our fire stations have sand bags,” Taber said. There is a 100 percent chance of rain forecasted for Auburn Thursday and Friday and showers and rain are likely for Saturday and Sunday, according to the National Weather Service Sacramento office. Temperatures are expected to hit highs in the low 50s and reach lows in the mid 40s to high 30s.
