A Foresthill man involved in a head-on collision Friday just west of the mountain community remained in a Roseville hospital Tuesday in critical condition. Delmar Uppendahl, 79, was driving west on Foresthill Road near Spring Garden Road when he lost control of his Nissan pickup. The truck crossed a double-yellow line into oncoming traffic and collided head-on with a Toyota Avalon being driven east on Foresthill Road, California Highway Patrol Officer David Martinez said Tuesday. The driver of the car – 32-year-old Sandi Price of Foresthill – was also injured in the crash, which took place just after 2 p.m. The drivers were the lone occupants of their vehicles. Price was taken by Foresthill Fire vehicle to Sutter Roseville Medical Center. She was discharged Saturday, hospital spokeswoman Robin Montgomery said. Uppendahl suffered what the Highway Patrol described as major injuries and was taken by helicopter to the Roseville medical facility. Montgomery said Uppendahl was in critical condition late Tuesday afternoon. The cause of the crash was still under investigation Tuesday. – Journal Staff Report
