Eagles rally, then fall to Grizzlies

Cooper Johnson settled down after a rough first inning and Del Oro High rallied from a six-run deficit before falling 10-6 to host Granite Bay in Sierra Foothill League baseball Tuesday. The Golden Eagles spotted the Grizzlies six early runs. Johnson gave up 10 runs on 11 hits in 5 2/3 innings, but only half of the runs were earned as Del Oro committed six errors. Brian Bynum went 3-for-3 and doubled for the Eagles (4-2-1, 1-1 SFL), while Cole Perez had two hits and two RBIs. Foresthill 8, Sacramento Waldorf 1 at Sacramento — The Wildfires scored early and often, overcoming four errors to beat the host Waves. Starter Jace Pack gave up two hits and earned the win. Matt Furness went 2-for-3 with a triple, while Mike Mangone and Ian Sykes added two hits apiece. Pack, Jon McCann and Tom Sawyer also had hits for Foresthill (2-0), which travels to Delta this afternoon before hosting Forest Lake Thursday.
