Dr. Bill Kirby and Keith Nesbitt will be sworn in for their new terms on the City Council, and Auburn’s next mayor will be determined at the council’s meeting Monday.

Kevin Hanley’s term as mayor ends, and his replacement, as well as the new mayor pro tem, will take their oaths of office.

It is tradition in Auburn for the top vote-getter in a city council election to be next in line for the mayoral seat, and in this case it would be Mike Holmes, the current mayor pro tem, who drew the most votes in 2010.

Also being sworn in Monday are Stephanie Snyder, who replaces Joseph Labrie as the elected city clerk, and incumbent City Treasurer George Williams.

The lone item on the agenda unrelated to the Nov. 6 election is a six-month extension of the temporary regional sewer committee on the consent calendar, meaning it will be voted on but not discussed unless it is asked to be removed from the calendar.
