Auburn resident Eugene William James turned 101 years old on Saturday, March 2nd. He was born in Greenville, Alabama and moved to Auburn in 1975 with his wife, Evelyn James (which he lost in 2000).
He served in the Navy in the Seabees Branch construction brigade from 1942 to 1945, spending most of the time in the South Pacific.
Throughout his life he has surveyed land in the South Pacific, Grand Canyon and all over Arizona and California, including McClellan Air Force Base. Eugene has been very active in the Mormon Church and has many friends there. He is loved by all of his children, grand children, great grandchildren, nephews and nieces.
