E.V. Cain girls win another basketball title
E.V. Cain's eighth-grade girls basketball team won its second F.I.S.A.L. championship Wednesday with a 50-35 win over Cavitt Jr. High.
With the lead changing several times throughout the third quarter, Gracie Schoenhoff (22 points) hit a 28-foot shot at the horn. This sparked E.V. Cain and gave it momentum into the fourth quarter.
And the locals never looked back.
Raven Lewis (17 points) hit back-to-back three-point buckets and Kapri Pelle (7 points) hit key shots down the stretch.
E.V. Cain's Jessica Lee (4 points) and Nicole Cook played superb on the defensive end of the floor, getting four steals apiece.
Julia Camillucci had seven rebounds for the eighth-grade E.V. Cain girls, which finished their season at 12-2 and middle school careers at 26-2 after going undefeated as seventh-graders.
