Ever hear ‘buy American?’

I recently learned that $2 billion in stimulus money was intended to be spent in China, for production of wind turbines. Sen. Charles Schumer was able to turn this around, but why was it necessary for him to do so? Irrespective of the merit of wind energy, it’s ludicrous that our congress and administration would allow these funds to be spent abroad when they could be creating jobs at home. There’s a “Buy American” provision in the Recovery Act, but for some reason, this was bypassed. Matt Rogers, adviser to the Secretary of Energy for the Recovery Act, denied there was a problem. Then maybe he’s the problem With proposals like this, it’s understandable why Congress has such a low approval rating. I say vote the fools out and let’s try again, this time with people who actually represent our interests. Ron PAITICH, Auburn
