The Forest Lake Christian volleyball team stormed into the Sac-Joaquin Section semifinals with a resounding win over Stone Ridge Christian Thursday in Merced. The sixth-seeded Falcons pounded No. 3 seed 25-9, 25-12, 25-8. They will host No. 10 Ripon Christian — the defending section champion — on Tuesday at 7 p.m. “Our team goal was to make it farther than we did last year and we’ve already done that,” Forest Lake coach Travis Smith said. “Whatever happens Tuesday, I’m really proud of the girls.” Senior Caitlin Hanson led a balanced Forest Lake offense with seven kills along with five aces. Morghan Pomeroy had six kills, four blocks and six digs while Jen Menary served up six aces to go with five kills and 17 assists. Christy Johnston had three aces and five digs and Molly Huusfeldt tossed in four digs for Forest Lake (15-7). “We just played a very solid match,” Smith said. “They had a really hard time generating any kind of offense because of our serves. Our serves just killed them.”
