Falcons overpower Foothill, 22-2
NORTH HIGHLANDS – What a difference five days can make.
Less than a week removed from being taken to the hilt by Pioneer Valley League cellar-dwelling Foothill in a nip-and-tuck one-run game, the Colfax Falcons’ baseball team left no doubt here Wednesday afternoon.
Banging out 16 base hits and scoring in every inning, the Falcons romped past Foothill, 22-2, to improve their PVL-leading record to 7-0. The lopsided Colfax win came just four days after the Falcons had to hold on for their lives last Friday in a 12-11 win over the same Mustangs.
In Wednesday’s triumph, Colfax tallied three first-inning runs and then busted the game wide open with two more in the second and nine in a big third inning.
Dave Campbell sparked the Colfax onslaught with three hits and three RBI while Matt Paskey, Ryan Glazner, Kyle Bryant, Devon Loomis and R.J. Hurley all blasted RBI doubles. Both Michael Wilson and Ray Henry each added additional RBI base hits.
James Dean started on the mound for the Falcons and went four innings for the win.
Colfax, 11-5 overall, hosts Placer on Friday at 4 p.m.
